Evaporator Concentrator, an evaporator for concentration serving as the first stage of the Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) process. It uses a vacuum system together with a Heat Pump to evaporate wastewater at a low temperature of about 35–45°C, reducing wastewater volume and increasing the concentration of the solution, while recovering high-quality distillate for reuse. The Heat Recovery system reuses the latent heat from condensation, helping to reduce electricity consumption, before sending the concentrated solution on to the Crystallizer stage.

Working Principle: Evaporator Concentrator
  • 1. Wastewater is heated under vacuum, lowering the boiling point to 35–45°C, using the hot side (condenser) of the heat pump.
  • 2. The water evaporates into vapor.
  • 3. The cold side (evaporator) of the heat pump condenses the vapor into distilled water, and the released latent heat is drawn back to continue evaporating the wastewater — energy that would normally be lost is reused within the system.
  • 4. The greatly reduced volume of concentrate is passed on to the next stage.
